BARBER LEAVES PEER £SOOO.
WINDFALL FOR LORD BUCKMASTER. bexjuest mystifies relatives CAMBRIDGE, Sept. 12. Why the late Mr. N. (j Richardson, * retired barber, of Cambridge, should have left all his pioperty, wh.ch amounts to nearly £S,OCX), to Lord Buekmaster is a mystery of which his friends in Cambridge can suggest no explanation. It is rumoured that many years ago, beiore Lord Buekmaster ’ (then Mr. Stanley Buekmaster) came to Camoridge as a political candidate, he befriended Mr Richardson, and that the ex-barber has left the former Lord Chancellor his property out of oratitude. Close friends, however, state that r,his is not the case, as Mr. Richardson never needed befriending. He succeeded to his father’s business, which was in a flourishing condition. He can hardly have left his property to Tord Buekmaster on political grounds, as h© was a staunch Conservative, whereas Lord Buekmaster was the Taheral member for Cambridge from 1906-10. He met Lord Buekmaster from time to time, and attended meetings at which Lord Buekmaster spoke, but this is the onlv connection he is known to have had with him. Mr. Richardson’s bequest came as a frreat surprise to all those who knew him. He lost his wife nearly two years ago and had no farnilv. But. tm' h-jd two nieoes. One of them, who married n Gorman heforo tho war, came to Fngbod to M-. Richardson in his ms 1 i!ln oc s. The other, who abo Fi«.r--W1 a German, i s also in Cambridge. Mr. F-eha-dsou is said to have had "cry strong anti-German feelings.
