LOANS TO FARMERS.
MR. POLS,ON’S VIEWS ON RURAL CREDITS BILL. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1 WELLINGTON, Oct 30. At a meeting of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to-day Mr. Poison brought up the question of the Rural Credits Bill, introduced in Parliament yesternight. He said he did not know what had induced Mr. Massey to bring down the Bill in the form he had done. The Farmers’ Union bad not been consulted in the matter. The amounts set aside under the Bill to meet the lifting of the moratorium were altogether inadequate, and loans under the Bill , would he so limited as to he of no use whatever to big producers. Unless the producers of the Dominion received Government support they would not get money from overseas. Mr. Poison added that he would , be prepared to accept anything which he thought would assist the producers, but this Bill Was not even half a loaf. After discussion it was resolved unanimously that: “This executive views with great regret the proposals nublisbed to-day with regard to th» Agricultural Credits Bill, and are still hopeful that the majority of the .House will agree to the report of the committee of the House, which recommended powers being given to establish agricultural banks on the lines of the
