The whole opera was well s, staged, and the principals and minor o characters combined in such a way as U to secure the greatest success. >; The Society are to be congratulated s. on possessing such a trio of talented -0 artists as Miss Sheahan, Miss Ward, 5r and Miss Grubb in the leading lady to parts. They all scored a distinct success. Miss Sheahan was particularly e- good and effective in her songs, “Star y of Love,” ‘lsland of Love,” and in the to duet with Mr Addinell, “Somebody.' 1 to Mass Ward’s acting and singing were L keenly appreciated, her best numbers being “When 1 leave town” and “Tact.” Miss Grubb’s clever acting was a feature of her work, and her s ? singing of “The fellow who might” T and. with Mr Ward in the duet “Gal>4 loping” were outstanding successes. As the proprietor of Florodora MY s bX. H. Moss made a great .hit. His acting in a, heavy part was capital and sustained at a high level through- [>■ out. Mr Addinell had a lot of musical I s numbers, in which he was very successL ful. and showed much clever acting. Mr Wood as Captain Donegal, Mr 4° Bridger as the Overseer of the Farm, * 5 and Mr Harkness as Tweedlepunch 1 > all acted well and created huge amuse--I’> ment while on the stage. The pretty ballets, with solo dancing 4‘ e by Miss E. Riley, and the excellent 4’ choruses were noteworthy features of oS the performance. The musical effects throughout were under the able control of Mr H. Lester, who gained such kudos for his control of the chorus and a j. orchestra- last year. lv These features will serve to demonstate to Hawera people that a. great ( j_ treat is in store for them to-night. v Any who have not hooked seats should v ’ secure them at once at Mrs Cook’s v’ Sweet Store. A crowded house is min’ ticipated.
