THE GAMING BILL.
PASSES BOTH HOUSES. NO ALTERATIONS. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATIONWELLINGTON. Oct. 29. The Gaming Bill has been passed by the House of Representatives and the Legislative Council. After the telegraph office closed this morning the discussion in the House on the third reading was continued till 2.20 a.m., when the Bill was read a third time and carried without a division. A lengthy debate took place on the Bill when it came before the Legislative Council to-night. Sir Francis Bell appealed to the Council to allow the Bill to pass unamended. Several members took exception to this, and notified alterations and new clauses they proposed to move, but the second reading was carried by 23 votes to 7, the objectors being the Hons. J. Barr, J. B. Gow, C. H. Izard. J. McGregor, A. S. Malcolm, G. M. Thomson, and Sic W. Ilall-Jone.s.
Other members did not uress their amendments, and the Bill* was put through its final stages and passed without alteration.
