NEW RULES ADOPTED. IMPORTANT ALTERATIONS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 30, 11.5 a.m.) , LONDON, Oct. 29. The Advisory Committee of Lords adopted the sub-committee’s recommendation enabling the covering of a pitch after 11 in the morning of the clay preceding a match until the latter Begins and reprotection thereafter, w 7 hen necessai’y, and in : any case nightly, during the continuation of a match, but the covering is removable, if fine, at seven in the morning. The covering after commencement must not protect a larger area than 18 by 12 feet at each end, and must not protect over three and a half feet in front of the popping crease. The hours of play in county matches have been definitely fixed at 6f hours on the first- day, 7-J hours on the second and 6J for the third, with an extra half-hour on the last day for the purpose of securing a definite or first innings result. The most important question concerned the system of awarding championship points, hut Yorkshire’s proposal of two points for a win and one to each side in the case of a draw was lost, and the present system retained pending a further proposal. All resolutions passed are confirmable by the Marylebone Club Committee. A meeting of the Cricket Board of Control decided on the occasion of the Australian visit in 1926 that the test matches be played on dates in June, July and August corresponding with those on which England and South Africa played this year.
