DRINK AND CANCER.
• WHAT A DOCTOR SAYS. LONDON, Oct. 11. Dr, Jeftares, medical officer of Leicestershire, says that during 25 years’ experience he never found a whisky drinker a victim of cancer. Some beer drinkers suffered from cancer, but the majority of the victims were either total abstainers or moderate drinkers.
Cancer cases have recently increased at an alarming rate, and Dr. Jeffares wonders whether this is due to the increased duty on whisky, and the resultant curtailment of consumption.
