A MOVING PUBLIC HOUSE.
PROCESS OF SINKING. Though accustomed to subsidences due to salt mining operations, inhabitants of Northwich, Cheshire, recently had a surprise. A public house which had to be entered by going up half a dozen steps sank to a level which made it necessary to go down to get into it. Houses and shops in the main street are nearly all buttressed, and yet the process of sinking continues. The method adopted when new property is being put up is to make it as light aa possible, and to have foundations of strong timber.
