The very satisfactory pay-out of Is 7cl per lb for butter-fat has been made by the Levin Co-op. Dairy Company for the September-October period (states the Chronicle). This figure, which corresponds with that paid out for the .same period of 1923, becomes even more satisfactory from the fact that owing to the early and mild season enjoyed, supplies are considerably larger than obtained at this time last year. Newspaper reporters in Wanganui have come to the conchision that although there have not. been many cures by faith reported of late in New Zealand, yet the day *of miracles has not yet passed. At a recent function* to farewell a well known police officer, a local reporter, on arriving home,- was surprised to find a- glass in his pocket. Another reporter, who attended the send-off to Mr A. Gower on Thursday night, while walking along the Avenue with a colleague, remarked that his overcoat appeared f,o. be heavy, and on investigating discovered a bottle of beer. He is now wondering whether some kind friend at the function thought he would relish a drink after completing his report, or whether the gentleman mistook the overcoat. — Herald.
