TROUBLE AHEAD
GEEAT EIGHT EXPECTED. WATERSIDEIiS V. COMPANIES. ASTOUNDING PnOPOSALS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Oct. 25, 11.30 a.m. •SYDNEY, Oct. 25. It is learned that among tlie proposals tentatively accepted by the interol tlio Waterside AVorkers’ Federation to fight the sinpP m o companies upon the question ol the Shipping Free Labour Bureau is one for an irritation ’ policy to be carried so far that the resultant damage would amount almost to sabotage. The tactics include the complete' abolition of which will result in cargo on the wharf and in the sling at knocking off time being allowed to remain exposed. Go-slow tactics will also be adopted. Another proposal is stated to be faulty loading and stacking, resulting in cargo being damaged while in transit. Little of this policy can be carried out in Sydney, as far as overseas boats are concerned, as the members of the W harf Labourers’ Union are employed only casually after all available labour at the Free Labour Bureau has been exhausted. At other ports, however, cargo comes directly into the hands of the Union.
