Finally the following motion was carried unanimously: That this Sjnod, while still desiring to see ripht of entry granted to recognised teachers of religion, heartily commends the efforts being made, with the support of the bishops of the orovince, to secure the opening of the'State schools with the Lord’s Prayer and the reading of Scripture. One speaker characterised the Bill, which was introduced by Mr. Isitt, as intended to set up a ‘State religion.
