ADDING!TON MARKET. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTO H LMiC'H. Oct-. 22. The Addington market showed a nulling for fat cattle anil an easing loi mutton. Guod clashes ot dry sheep sold well in the store section, whilst tlieie waS a brisker demand lor store cattle. On the whole the market was a good one.
I'at Lambs. The yarding considerably exceeded butchers’ requirements and was cleared at a shade easier ligates than the week before, the average being about J Ltl per lb, except Tor a lew small lambs. Values averaged from 30s upwards, the top price being 375.
Fat Sheep.—A slightly larger entry and irregular sale, values being easier by Is to Is (id per head. The tops of a Canterbury line of woolly wethers made 63s lOd, and of a Palmerston North line of woolly ewes 645. Extra heavy wethers 'realised 60s to 63s XOd, prime 63s 6d to 57s od, medium 48s 6d to 62s 6d, light- 42s 6d to 47s 6d. Extra prime ewes 645. prune 47ts 6d to 54s,..medium 42s 6d to 475, light 36s to 425. Prime shorn wethers 42s to 47s Id, medium 33s to 395. Prime shorn ewes 32s to- 3os, .medium 29s to 6d, light shorn ewes 26s to 28s 6d. Fat Cattle.—The quality all round was good, and for prime medium weights the market was 2s 6d per 100 lb better than the previous week.' Extra prime heavy steers realised £2l to £25 7s Bd, prime medium-weight steers £lB 15s and £2l 10s, medium £l6 10s to £lB 10s, light £l3 10s to £l6, rough £9 10s to £l2. Extra prime heifers £l6 17s 6d, prime £l3 os to £ls, medium £9 10s ito £l3, light £6 to £9. Extra prime cows £l6 2s 6d, prime £l2 os to- £l4 os, ordinary £9 10s to £l2, aged £4 10s to £7. Dairy Cattle.—A, small entry of 110 head. Good cattle sold well. Second, third, and fourth cal vers, springing, made £6 to £9 10s,' medium £4. to £5 10s 6d, good springing heifers £7 to £lO, medium £3 10s to £o 10s.
Fat . Pigs.---'Choppers made £3 to £5, light baconers £4 fis to £4 15s, heavy £5 to £5 10s, extra- heavy £6 (average price per lb 7ld to Sid), light porkers 50s to 57s 6d, heavy £3 5s to £3 12s (average price per lb 9d to 9H). . . ' , ' Store Pigs.—A fair-sized entry and keen, competition. Weaners made 24s to 30s, extra good 345, small stores 35s to 40s, medium 45s to 495, large 565. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE, DUNEDIN, Oct. 22. There was a big yarding of sheep at Burnside to-day, and prices fell more than 5s from the very high rates- oi the last two sales, hut they are still nigh. Prices for fat cattle also eased, the fall being fully £1 per head. Pigs also were somew'hat easier. Fat Cattle.—The quality was fully up to that of last w'eeß. The proportion or heavy prime animals w as. large. There were but few outside buyers, ana the demand opened on medium quality at a reduction of 10s per heaci, .ana Continued steady at a turther decline of 10s. The fall was father more in the case cf heavy cattle. Prime handyweight bullocks brought -up to 50s pei 1.G01b., and medium quality / bullocks from 43s to 455, prime heifers to 40s, Cows and light heifers 32s 6d to 375. Extra prime bullocks brought to £24 LOs, prime heavy £lB 10s to £l9 ss, lighter £l6 os to £l7. Extra prime heifers to £9 ss, lighter heifers £7 os to £8 10s, extra- prime cows to £9 12s 6d, light to £7 10s. Eat sheep.—The quality was very fair and the demand was fairly good at reduced, .-though still fairly high, rates. All sheep were back fully os, and heavy prime sheep more than that. The sale was very irregular and a considerable number of shorn animals were passed in. Graziers were taking sheep m the wool. Extra heavy wethers sold at ficm Cod to B:fd per lb, light hanclywveighi wethers 9d to Old, prime ewes 7d to 7-id, prime shorn wethers to 7d. Extra pfiine heavy wethers brought from 62s to 78s, prime 54s to 59s 6d, light prime '47s to 495, medium from 435. Extra prime heavy ewes so.ld at from 50s tc 625, prime 40s 6d to 48s 3d, light 38s to 39s 9d. Shorn wethers made 36s 6d to 44s 9d, and extra prime animals of the same class sold at from 4os 6d to 56s 3d. Spring lambs:. —About ‘forty-five were offered, compared with 39 last week. They were a very fair lot, though some lacked finish. There was a drop ol' about Is 6d per head. Prime lambs brought from 38s to 42-s, lighter 32s 9tl to 35s 6d, unfinished from 295. Pigs.—An entry of 167 fats and a good number of stores. The sale opened at prices about on a par with those of last w-eek, but eased back some 4s or os. Prices are still fairly good. B-aconers sold on a basis of 8d per lb, and porkers at 84d.
