PENSION DRAWN. WHILE EARNING £1 PER DAY. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. HAMILTON, Oct. 24. At . the Magistrate Court Reginald Dempsey, a miner, of Glen AftorT, was charged with obtaining an instalment under liis pension by false pretences. Evidence was given that accused was in receipt of a pension which was. granted conditionally on his being unemployed, but he drew instalments while employed at the Glen Afton colleries at £1 a day. The magistrate said the offence was serious, but as the charge was the first of its kind, and having regard to accused’s health, he admitted him to probation for a year.
