MISSING PASTOR. A melodramatic sequel is reported to the mysterious disappearane a fortnight ago of the Rev. Owen Van Loon, pastor of Berkley Community Church, Detroit. Mr. Van Loon, who, it is alleged, received threatening letters because of his opposition to the Ku Klux Klan, left his home on June 30 to make a speech at Flint. Nothing more was heard of him until he was picked up in a street in Battle Creek in a delirious condition. On his hack was deeply branded the letters, two inches square, K K K. Mr. Van Loon’s condition is discribed as dangerous. He constantly cries out. “Don’t let them get me.” So far he is unable to give an account of his movements since his disappearance. A similar case of branding was reported recently at Maine, but the Ku Klux Klan vigorously deny responsibility for it.
