BROADENED AND WIDENED. BRITISH PREMIER’S SPEECH. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct 22, 1.40 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 21. An appeal for Liberal support and a vigorous attack on Conservatives was made bv Mr. MacDonald in a speech at the Hippodrome, Sheffield, where he was enthusiastically received bv an audience of over 4000. Many others vyere unable to gain admission. Queues formed outside at six o’clock in the morning. The Premier declared that the campaign was to him like a whiff of victory, hut there was a grim struggle ahead. Next week their opponents would not leave any stone unturned to damage Labour, because it bad been too successful .in caring for the interests of the country at home and abroad. If there was anv danger from extremists in Britain it would come when an incompetent Tory Government was in office. The Premier, in appealing for Liberal siinport, claimed that Labour had the Liberal spirit widened, broadened, and heightened.—Reuter. ’ .
