EJECTED MARXIST.
SQUALLS AMONGST THE “BROTHERS.” In Dunedin there is a “Bolshevist” party, a score or so of Communists, Avhich meets regularly for the study of Marxian economics, says the Lyttelton Times Dunedin correspondent, writing on October 16. So great is the devotion of these people to the belief that every effect has a traceable cause that they recently ejected a man from membership because he believes in astrology. Their argument was that “coming events cast their shadows before” on the earth and not from the stars, and that no one believing in outside influences had a right to become a, disciple of Lenin and Karl Marx. The ejected gentleman, evidently feeling no ill Avill towards his late “Brothers,” Avaited upon them to tell them Hoav properly to conduct tlie meetings. One of them, it is said, hit him on the jaw. 'and another “Brother” slapped his face. Astrology as applied to Communism seems to haA'e a softening influence, for Avhile if is said that he would he canable of dealing satisfactorily with both the “Brothers” at the same time, lie Avould not retaliate. They said that they did.
