OBITUARY.

AIRS. H. P. FINEAIORE. The death occurred on Friday of Airs. AI. C. J. Finemore, rvife of Air. Harman P. Finemore, a well-known business man of Christchurch. Mrs. Finemore will he remembered in Auckland as a daughter of the late Michael Corcoran, , who, in the early days of Auckland, avos licensee of the Greyhound Hotel, Avhich stood at the corner of Queen Street now occupied by the J.C.L. drapery establishment. From behind the hotel Hardington’s buses used in those days to run betAveen Auckland and Onehunga and other places. VETERAN OF MAORI AVAR. AIR. HENRY AVAITE. Air. Henry Waite, one of the fastdiminishing band of veterans Avho served Avith the 18th Royal Irish Regiment during the Alaori AVar,. died at St. Helier’s Bay, at the age of 85 years. Air. AVaite landed with his regiment in the sixties, and had resided there 6A-er since., After the Avar he started in business as a tinsmith, and developed into a manufacturer of dairy utensils. He erected the first cheese factory in the AVaikato. Air. Waite was for some years in partnership Avith the late Air. Lee, and retired from active work after forty years in the tinsmith business. He was one of the oldest residents at St. Helier’s Bay. Airs. Waite died five years ago. The folloAving daughters survive their parents : Mesdames H. ,J. Cooper, of Ilemuera; B. C. Baxter, R. P. Hopkins, and J. H.Bradshaw, all of St. Helier’s. There is also one son, Air. Robert AVaite, now in San Francisco. Air. Harry AA r aite was a Avell-known figure at the annual reunion of the veterans of the 18th Royal Irish Regiment at the Queen’s statue in Albert Park.

Airs. AVaite Avas the oldest daughter of the late Air Atkinson Crokett, of Mount Eden.
