CLINICAL CONGRESS.

GATHERING OF SURGEONS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Oct. 19. A group of eight Australasian surgeons has arrived to attend the fourteenth annual clinical congress of the American College of Surgeons, opening to-morrow. Twenty-five hundred surgeons from North and South America and European countries will be present, including Dr. Walton (London), Professor Ilothier (Switzerland) and Professor Petti (Bologna). On the first day, Sir Lindo Ferguson (New Zealand) will speak on the work of the University hospital at Dunedin, and Dr. Elliott (New Zealand) on what the New Zealand division of the British Medical Association is doing towards improving, hospital efficiency. Dr. Royle will deliver the John B. Murphy oration, namely, the treatment, of plastic paralysis, and its experimental basis. Dr. Hunter will speak on the significance of this work. On the second day Dr. Falconer (New Zealand) will speak on hospital administration in New Zealand, Dr. Devin on basic principles and new operations in gastric surgery, Sir Lindo Ferguson will speak on*a subject under the section “Eyes, ear, throat and nose,” and Dr. Robertson (New Zealand) will speak on septicaemia and intravenous injections. During the congress fellowships will lie conferred on Drs. Russell, Worrall and Sir Liudo Ferguson.
