FROZEN MEAT. 51. A. Elliott-, Ltd., have received cable advice from Messrs. Gilbert, Anderson and Co.. Ltd., London, o? the following Smithfield prices for the past week ending October 17, 192-!. These prices are on the “Delivered’’ basis, tnat is, including storage charges, cartage, etc. : Best North Island prime crossbred lambs, U/42 128 d ; ordinary North Island lambs, L/42 12jd, second quality U/42 12d; best North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, . 48/56 Bfd, 56/64 B|d, 34/72 Bgd •, ordinary North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, 48/56 Bfd, 56/64 B*d, 64/72 7RI; North Island ewes, 17/64 6fd, 64/72 6£d. 3/72 6d: New Zealand ox beef (equal fores and hinds), 160/220 4Jd. Lamb market unchanged. Mutton £d higher. Market firm. Beef no change. There is a good demand for the Continent. SHEEPSKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW REPORT. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Wellington, leport: — We held our usual fortnightly sale on Friday, when we submitted an average catalogue of all grades to a full attendance of exporters, fellmongers, tanners, and the local trade. Sheepskins: Under spirited competition we disposed of our catalogue of dry skins at prices Id to )d per lo better than late rates. Salties were easier, and* prices all round were 6d to Is lower. Extra special and super iots were about on a par to 6d lower. Hides: Our catalogues comprised some nice lines of abattoirs, and under keen competition we sold the whole of our catalogue. Heavies showed an appreciation of 3d to |d per lb, medium and light weights Id to Cut, slippy, damaged and inferior lines again sold at late rates. Kip and yearling were eagerly sought after, N and prices were |d to Id better .than previous quotations. Calf sold about on a par with rates previously recorded. Tallow: Bidding throughout was good, and prime mixed, good coloured lines showed an improvement of Is per cwt. Other grades ruled on the basis of last week’s value with an occasional appreciation. Sundries. —Horsehair, 8d to 17£d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile gency Co., Ltd., report:—The fortnightly sales for skins, hides and tallow were held tc-day. There was a good attendance of buyers, and values advanced in some lines. The range of prices were the same as quoted above.
