v - FORM’AT TRENTHAM. FINE TRACK WORK. SOME FAST TIMES. (Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. The weather was fine, but cold, at Trentham this morning. The tracks had dried fairly well, and inside of the trial grass track, which was in use, provided fair going, although, naturally, considering the amount of rain that has fallen, fast times were out of the question. A large number ox horses were out, but few wei - e asked to gallop. J. H. Prosser’s pair, Haze and Gardant, opened the proceedings by running six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Master Sandstone and Ecuador- were sprinted half a mile in 53sec-., both being under pull at the finish. Royal Divorce (W. Tippetts) jumped off at the seven furlongs post. He ran the first three furlongs in 40see. and the half-mile in 54 3-s,see-, finishing up the full distance in 1.35. He completed his task well. Lake Uru and Ares covered the lasi four of five furlongs in 55 2-ssec., and Kaladare ran five furlongs in 1.12. Winch shaped* well when. being schooled by H. McSweeney oyer three flights of { hurdles, and MUitaire later, ivith the same rider up, was jumped over the same fences. Calm Eve covered seyen furlongs in 1.40, and Cristina covered a similar distance in 1.38, going easily. Fool’s Paradise (R. Reed) and Dubious broke away from the six furlongs post. They covered the first two furin 2-71-osec., three furlongs in 40 4-osec., five in 1.8 2-5, and the full .journey in 1.22. Fool’s Paradise was under a very strong pull at the finish.' Subjection, who lias improved considerably in appearance, galloped seven furlongs in 1.38, the first half-mile taking 54sec; All Gold and Matin Bell finished together at the end of half-a-mile in 52 l-ssec. Vindictive, brought home by Militate over the last half-mile, ran a (mile in 1.50. Nigger Minstrel, who has freshened up since coming to Trentham, was anxious to increase the pace when becantered twice round. liega, with R. Reed in the saddle, strode out well in a working gallop over five furlongs. Suggestion and Proclaim were given half-pace work in company. The former has been improved by his racing xt Alasterton. Musketooi), Drawbridge, and Importer, who arrived yesterday, were given easy tasks. The first-named looks very muscular and well. Comical and Diamond Ring, who arrived yesterday, were sprinted half-a-mile. The former, with R. Reed in the saddle, was going hotter than his mate at the finish. Elmorz and Hyrax were schooled over four hurdles. ’ The former was o-oiim best. " Santonio and Santiago, who arrived yesterday, were given steadv pace work. Ivuliio and Ilka were together at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.7 3-5. The first furlong took 113-ssec., and the next two furlongs 26 3-ssec. Dominant, who i.s improving galloped a mile by herself in 1.48, six’ furlongs taking 1.22 2-5. Other horses out, who were only ‘•rotted or cantered, were Piquant. 0-nDsr-ent. Aferit. Last Crust.
