SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
TAKOU-MANGAMINGI CLUB. There was an excellent attendance of members of the club present at the annual meeting, held yesterday at the Mangamingi Hall. Mr L. Bunn (president) vyas in the chair, and the secretary (Mr A. Stannard) was also present. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed, on the motion of Mr Gower, seconded 'by Mr Sproull. The chairman said he would first like to acknowledge the great help to the trials given by the committee by the willing way they assisted the president and secretary. He had been at the championship meeting and seen 126 entries put through in four days, whereas Takou had got through 167 entries in three days. This: showed the expedition achieved by the judge and committee in their work. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance at the beginning of the year of £4 14s 6d, subscriptions £43 19s. sale of tickets £24, special prizes £9 10s, sheep guessing £2, sweepstake £2 2s 6d, nominations £45 18s 6d, entrance money £6 5s 6d, sundries £4 los 6d. Expenditure—Printing (Argus) £B, refreshments and judge’s expenses £l7 9s, prizes and specials £46 15s 3d, travelling expenses £3 15s, trophies etc., £l7 11s 9d, music £3 10s, N.I. Association £5 ss, sundries £2 6s. 3d. balance in bank £35 10s 3d. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr O. J. Ha when, M.P.; chairman, Mr L. Bunn; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. McWilliam; assistant secretary, Mr Percy Brown; auditor, Mr.W. .H. Sproull; vicepresidents, Messrs G. D. McGregor, E. E. Carter, T. B. Crump, A. A. Stewart, F. A. Barnard, 0.~ Buckman, W. J. Tristram, T. Fountaine, L. Nairn, It. J. Nairn, J. Crabtree, Dr. Cooper, J. O’Hagen, C. C. Stanners, M. McGarrv, C. N. Taplin, J. Cocker, J. H. Martin, J. Pennington, R. J. Knuckey. L. E. Jackson, J. W. Richards, A. O! Casey, J. Paterson, J. W. Burke; judge, Mr Cotterill, of Taurnarunui, is to be asked to act, and several other gentlemen were nominated in case Mr Cotterill be unable to act. An executive committee was elected comprising Messrs P. Forrester, A. •Doole, A. Gray, H. V. Gower, Hardwick. Smith, R. S. V. Hunt, with the chairman, secretary and assistant secretary ex officio. It was resolved to thank Mr Hickey for his generosity in providing £5 os prizes for novices, and to ask Mr Turner for permission to use his ground for the course. The dates of the next meeting were fixed, after some discussion, for February 25, 26, 27. 1925. The matter of the annual concert was left to the general committee to arrange details. The matter of providing sheep was left in the hands of Mr P. Brown and Mr Hardwick Smith. Tt was resolved that the financial year end on June 30 and that the annual meeting be held before the end of July. In concluding the meeting the chairman thanked the members for turning up in such numbers, and assured them all that, lie would ahvavs do his very best in the interests of the sport of dog trials. A special vote of thanks was accorded the Hawera Star for its support to dog trials. A vote of thanks to the chairman for his good work, and to the committee. to the owners of the course, and to the Hall Committee for use of the hall concluded a verv successful meeting.
