As a result- of recent activities undertaken unofficially by David Stead, one of the Commonwealth representatives at the Pan-Pacific Pood Congress plans are being made .for a preliminary survey of permanent air lines for the possible establishment of a series of transpacific commercial air routes. Initial flights will most likely be undertaken by the United States Army and Navy Air forces concurrently' with the visit of the American fleet to the Pacific neat year. It is expected that several countries in the Pacific will co-operate with the Americans in the scheme. The proposed routes include San Francisco to Sydney via Honolulu and Manila, end several of the smaller islands and intervening spans; also Sydney to Honolulu via Auckland, the Kermadecs. Suva, Samoa, the Phoenix Group and Palmyrna.
