LAMBS DESTROYED. DEPARTMENTAL ACTION. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. In consequence of a statement as to stoats and weasels killing lambs at Waimarino, the Agricultural Department is despatching an officer to make exhaustive enquiries. Mr. F. Nicol. farmer, of R angataua, reported that he had lost heavily, having found 23 lambs dead in one morning, and his 'complaint is corroborated by four neighbours. The department doubts if weasels are responsible, but recognising that the matter is serious is losing no time in taking action.
