TO MANY PORTS.
STEAMER’S WANDERINGS. The wanderings of a tramp steamer are well illustrated in a letter received by a Wanganui resident from the captain of the Tregenna, which visited the port about a year ago. The letter was dated from Reria. Portuguese East Africa, at the end of August, and mentioned first of all that a letter addressed to ham at Shanghai from Wanganui was received by him on the African coast a few. nays’before, after having followed him since February. Referring to the ship’s movements, the said: “As you know, we went to ‘Wallaroo and loaded a cargo of wheat for Shanghai, then we went to Nagasaki antY hunkered, then went down to the Pacific Islands, Kaevieng, in New Britain Island, Madang, on the north-east coast of New Guinea, and Rabaul, in New Ireland Island, we loaded a full cargo of copra for Marseilles.. We came home in ballast and commenced loading at Middlesbro and London on the British-India berth for .Port Said, Suez, Port Sudan, Aden, Mambassa. Zanzibar, Dar-es-Salaam, our last port being Beira. We are loading at the same norfcs homewards for Marseilles, Paujllao. near Bordeaux, and London.” He asked the recipient to reriiember him to all who helped, to make the ship’s visit to Wanganui pleasant memories, and added “who knows, we mav go- across to New York next voyage and be with yon all again before another six months.”
