BENEFIT CONCERT.
Tn to-day s issue appears the programme for the above concert in rbe Opera House on Tuesday evening next in aid of funds to purchase a piano for the Old People’s Home. It is no doubt one of the best that have been presented to the Hawern public, and the organisers wish to thank the artists who have so willing”- offered their services in such a wortnv cans.?. Lovers of good music will 'be well catered for. Messrs. Moosmans’ orchestra will play two selections, Miss E. Goodson (pianiste) will play “Lieberstraum” (Liszt), Mr. Matthew Newberry (violinist) will play “Chanson Polonaise” (Wieniawski) and “Cavatina” (Raff), Mr. H. N. 'Lester (’cellist) will play “O Star of Eve” (Wagner), and the trio (Messrs. M. Newberry. H. N. Lester and J. Renwiek) will play the Prelude in O Sharp Minor (Rachmaninoff) and the “Meditation” from Gourlay. As well as this fine instrumental programme,* the following talented artists will appear in vocal and elocutionary items: Mesdames M. J. Goodson, W. G. Strange. C. Twaddle, R. Drynan. Mieses O. Reilly, Alison Goodson and D. Machin, Messrs. Claude C. Moss, M. Kineton Parkes. W. G. Simpson and Ralph Vivian. The box plan is now open, and as the prices are very reasonable it only requires a fine night, and a “bumper’’ house should greet the performers in their effort to provide some pleasure to the aged and infirm, who have at present no musical instrument, which prevents many willing parties from giving rtiem entertainments and so brightening up the sunset of their lives.
