PUBLIC NOTICES. NOTICE. OVERDUE ACCOUNTS. T HE Proprietors of “The Hawera Star ” thank those subscribers and advertisers who have paid their accounts regularly. Many, however, have failed to 'do so, and drastic measures must be taken to •collect, overdue accounts. > Considerable leniency' has been shown in the past on account of so many persons being affected bv slump conditions, but it. is felt •that in many cases this leniency has been abused. A veiy large total is involved, and in .view of the heavy cost of personal collection where accounts are spread oyer so wide an area, notice is given that legal proceedings will be taken unless accounts of the class referred to are promptly paid, or definite arrangements made for payment. Those who . disregard this notice must be prepared for the action threatened, and no exceptions will be made. W. A. JJERE are a few reasons why .you should join the South Taranaki Automobile Association:— . (1) Th e primary object of the association is to protect and further the interests of motorists in South Taranaki. (2) The Automobile Associations keep B in close touch with all legislation affecting motorists. At the recinest of the associations the Government has reduced the tax on private r ears in the draft “Motor Vehicle Bill” from £3 to £2 ])er car. Your subscription will be saved every year through this alone. _ (3) ft is proposed to erect direction, distance and warning signs where necessary and bring Taranaki up to date with other districts in this respect. (4) All the leading hotels in Taranaki have made special tariff concessions to members. All you need to do is to present your membership card and obtain the concessions. You will save your subscription every year. Hotel concessions are being obtained throughout New Zealand, and your membership card entitles you t.o them also.
(5) It is hoper] to secure uniform bylaws iii the towns. At present speed limits, parking regulations, etc., are different, in every town in Taranaki. (G) It is hoped to ameliorate the level crossing menace. (7) There are hundreds of motorists in South Taranaki and thousands of pounds invested in private cars, and the time has arrived when motorists in the district should be organised into a strong body able to speak with authority on behalf of .private car owners. (S) Help the association to advertise South Taranaki’s resources, scenic attractions and roads for next touring season. Intending members should send their names in to the Secretary— W. G.
