BRITISH ELECTION EFFECTS. INTEREST IN It FI OR MS. BY CABLE—PRESS -ISSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 17, 2 p.m. DELHI, October 16. While the British general election has caused greatuncertainty regarding the future of constitutional reforms, interest in Indian political' circles lias been mainly diverted to the- proceedings of the Reforms Enquiry Committee, which reassembled ~ to-day. Sir Provashohandra Mitfcer, an ex-Minis-ter of Bengal, laid great stress on the matter of India co-operating with Britishers to achieve her political advancement, otherwise the future was gloomy. He quoted statistics to show that the economic interests' of Tndia and England could be accommodated profitably. Both parties urged the Committee to consider this question. Replying to Mr Mudd'iman, Sir Provashohandra Mitter said that provincial autonomy was the only solution provided the franchise was widened, otherwise autonomy was risky,* because the electors, though intelligent, were still gullible and immature.—Reuter.
