MILK SUPPLY.
MUNICIPAL ENTER PRISE. FA YOUR ABLE REPORT. Cl’.Y TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON. Oct. 17. The special board appointed to investigate the milk supply in the city reports : —“The action of the City Council in establishing its milk department, and thus assuming control of the city’s supplv ol this most valuable and essential food was a great step forward in municipal enterprise, particularly in the direction of safeguarding the health of the community, and the Council should be complimented accordingly. No effort should be spared to make citizens thoroughly acquainted with its value and importance to them, and to arouse among them a widespread sense of duty towards it. so as to ensure the continuance of its great advantages.’’ The board considers that the municipal milk scheme is deserving of all possible support from every citizen. It finds, however, that the expenses are too heavy, and should be reduced ; that in many directions improvements can he effected, and offers numerous suggestions to that end.
