The Persian Parliament has replied .to a recent telegram from the Sheik Mohammerah, in which lie stated that he did not intend to recognise Parliament, by sending an army of some thousands strong against him. The Sheik has been showing a defiant attitude to the central Government for some months, and relations are strained. -The Sheik is known to have an army behind him and civil war seems certain, but in some quarters there is hope of an amicable settlement. — Sydney Sun Cable
