A TORNADO

DAMAGE/ DONE IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 16, 10.10 ,a.m. ADELAIDE, Oct. 16. Travelling at between eighty and a hundred miles an hour, a tornado swept across South Australia, leaving a path of ruin. The Banner a _ soldier settlement on the Murray River was considerably damaged. A chemist’s shop, picture palace and general store were partly blown away and the Church of Christ was levelled to the ground. At Salisbury houses were unroofed and haystacks blown 'to pieces and crops greatly damaged. No serious injuries are reported, but some minor casualties were caused by the hailstances, which were as large as" pigeons’ eggs.
