HAWERA CLUB. A meeting c,f the committee of the Hawera .Amateur Athletic Club was held last night. Present: Messrs A. Grant (chair), A. Gray, C. P. Hutchisan, L. I. Ala iter. AY. Watts., R. Alien, At. R. Jones, J. Goodwin, R. Foy, and -G. H. Weir (secretary). Apologies lor absence were received from Messrs H. X. Lester, L. M nut, and A. E. Gorton. The secretary stated that a dance held on October 10 resulted in a profit of £3 13s. A letter from Air G. Benson, resigning his position as delegate, was read. —Ah B. Fry was appointed the club’s delegate for the year 1924-1925. A letter from the Hawera County Council, granting permission to' use the roads for cycle race on Labour Day was received. An application from the combined boys’ clubs for the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club to conduct their sports cn Saturday, October 25, was received. _ it was. decided that the club conduct the sports on behalf of the Combined Bovs’ Club, and that the officials for the meeting he Alessrs Al. R. Jones (starter). A. Gray, C. P. Hutchison, j. J. Goodwin (judges), and AY.--Watts and C. P. Hutchison (marksmen). Accounts amounting to £4 5s 6d were passed for payment. The secretary pointed out that Ser-geant-Major C. S. Mahoney regretted lie could not accept office on the committee for the current season. Mr Strachan was elected to fill the vacancy on the committee left by Sergt.Ala.jor Ala-honey. Tlie following officials were appointed to act in connection with the Labour Day cycle races and sports:—Marshal,L. I. Alarter; starter. M. R. Jones; marksmen. Alessrs 11. AlcCabc. R. Foy, R. Allen. H. N. Lestev, H. G. Whittington, Strachan; call steward, C. P. Hutchison; judges, Alessrs J. J. Goodwin. A. E. Gorton, C. Dahl, and r . N. Matthews; result steward, C. •C. Whittington; time-keepers, Alessrs G. Hcst'ick and F. Foclen; secretary. rW. Watts. Mr R. Allen agreed to arrange for cycle road race stewards In connection with the cycle road race on Labour Day, it was decided that all cyclists will finally enter the Showgrounds -through the side entrance gate near loose-boxes off Camberwell Road, and will then ride partly round the track to' finish in front of the stand. In view of this motion, cyclists will not finish through the main gate and will not ride twice round the track.
