(I 1 rom Our Own Correspondent). SCHOOL COMMITTEE. ' The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday last, the-chairman, Mr B. L. Webby, presiding. Other members present were: Messrs E. Gibbons (sec.), W. W. Lonsdale, J. Stables and M. F. Aqullaire. The headmaster, Mr A. E. Mills, was also present. Correspondence was received from the Taranaki Education Board, notifymg payment of capitation in reply to the committee’s complaint re washhand basins, stating that the arch tee l had been instructed to. examine these and report. Accounts amounting to £ll 19s were passed for payment. The matter of the holding of a breaking-up function at the end < f the yea,r was brought up by Mr Mills, and after some discussion it was unsolved to held same cm the night of the closure of the school for the Christmas holidays. HALL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Hall Committee was held on Thursday evening, when v the following members were present: Messrs B. L. Webby (chairman), M. F. Voullaire (secretary), LI. Hooper, F. Schmidt, E. Gibbons. A. Gibson, J. Gibson. J. A. Syrnes, and C. Slater. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Hooper, it was. resolved .that the loan required be for twelve .months from date of commencement .’lily. The matter of arrangements for the masemerate, ball to celebrate the openng of the new supper-room and reopening of the hall was discussed at length, and it was resolved that the same he held on Friday, October 31, admission to. be gents 4s, ladies 2s. It was resolved to. ask the ladies of tile district to provide the supper, and the secretary was instructed to call a ladies’ meeting at an early date. It was resolved to engage Mrs Evans’ orchestra to play the music. Messrs Jack Gibson and C. Slater were appointed M’s.O. It was resolved to ' hold an open waltzing competition, and also to- give half-guinea prizes far best fancy costumes, for which outside judges will he . appointed.
