PLAY AT AVELLINGTON. FINAL OF LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. (EV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AVELLINGTON, Oct. 8. The ladies’ championship at the Miramar Club was decided this morning and was won by Mrs. Guy AVilliams with 250 for three rounds. In the third round Mrs. AVillia,ms’ score was 81, which is a record for the course, and one under par. Misses Brown and Gambrel], 271, play oft for second place. COUNCIL’S FINANCES. WELLINGTON, Oct. 9. The Golf Council has a credit of £464 after paying all prize money at the championships. Replies are expected soon regarding the engagements of English professionals, and it is hoped to have two good men available for the smaller clubs next season.
