.CANTERBURY MARKETS. Uty I'KLKO.UAPn —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 7. The grain and produce market is very quiet. Potatoes fluttered up for a brief period of about a day since the week-end report, a few paper sales having actually taken place at £7 a ton f.0.b.. sacks in, but they have receded again. Farmers are" being quoted at up to £5 5s for whites on trucks, and to £5 for Dakotas. Cowgrass has scarcely the keenness that ’ it had a week ago, though up to lOd per lb is being paid farmers for good samples. There is little doing in the white clover market. Danish cocksfoot has improved in price in England, which may give the demand here muchneeded stimulus. Partridge peas have also firmed slightly. The most sought after product a J the moment is chaff, for which there is a good local and outside demand. Southern ryegrass is being offered locally, but so far it has had no effect on the substantial values ruling for Canterbury seed. AUCKLAND SHARE-MARKET. ' AUCKLAND. Oct. 7.
