DAIRY INDUSTRY BILL. (By Telegraph. —Special to Star.) WELLINGTON; Oct. 8. It was suggested to the Premier by Mr. Wilford yesterday that time should be given for the presentation of evidence on the Dairy Industry Bill. Mr. Massey agreed that it was reasonable to allow a week for the purpose, and lie undertook to consult the Minister for Agriculture when he returns to Wellington this week. MORTGAGE EXTENSION. No progress lias been made in the dispute between the two Houses of the Legislature regarding the final date for filing notice of intention to apply for an extension of the moratorium. Four representatives of the Council met a similar number from the Lower House this afternoon, but failed to agree. This was reported to the Legislative Council, which approved the action of its representatives. The probability is that when the matter is reported to the House of Representatives another conference will be requested with the Council’s delegates. ( BY TKXKGRAPB —PRKHS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. to-day. On the motion of Sir Francis Bell the Council agreed to the proposal of the House that a conference be held concerning the Mortgages Final Extension Bill. Three weeks’ leave of absence was granted to the Hon. W. J. Gedelis and ten days to the Hon. Sir James Carroll on account of illness. The Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill and the Education Reserves Amendment Bill we re introduced from the House and read a first time. The Medical Practitioners’ Amendment Bill was put through its final stages and passed. In. the Legislative Council to-night the managers appointed to confer with managers from the House on the Mortgages Final Extension Bill reported that they had met and had failed to come to a conclusion on the subject of certain dates, especially the dates fixed by section one.
