At Opunake, on Monday, the 6th inst., we report a good yarding and a total clearance at prices very satisfactory to vendors. We quote: Sow to farrow £7 10s, fat cows. £6 8s to £6 12s, fresh conditioned young cows £3 10s to £4 os, works and boner cows at late rates, yearling Jersey heifers £3 Bs, yearling crossbred heifers £2 12s, small and low-conditioned £1 7s 6d to £2 Bs. On behalf of Mr G. A. Holmes we sold 100 head of yearling steers, the Shorthorns making £2 12s to £2 15s, Holstein steers £2 17s. In the dairy pens the quality was very 7 fair, but condition was lacking. Best Jersey heifers £7 10s to £9, backward £4 I.os to £7, g.s. cows £8 to £lO 10s.
