Daring the past year various State enterprises have shown a considerable improvement over previous years. The bi'ickworksi made a trading profit of £27,500, the largest in a like undertaking. This was achieved after selling at a price which was about £1 a thousand less than private enterprises. The trading profit from the metal quarries was £33,400. The Monier pipe and reinforced concrete works made a profit of £14,000. The loss on the Newcastle dockyards amounted to £5190. . ‘
