WRIGHT ESTATE.
1 . HEARING 'OF. CASE CONTINUED. (BT TELEORAPff —PRESS AHf JCIAT»ON. > CHRISTCHURCH, pet 7. The hearing of the Wright estate case was continued to-day, irregularities being alleged against the trustees, one of whom is the Hon. W. Nosworthy. Percy Norman Quartermain public accountant, gave evidence that Douglas Wright purchased his mother’s share of the Surrey Hills assets for £7600, and his mother assisted him to the extent of the divisible portion of capital. Upon each further' distribution of capital the share of the widow was credited to Douglas Wright, irrespective of whether it wa s Surrey Hills or Windermere. Statements were put in showing transactions bv Douglas Wright with Surrey Hills and Windermere properties. These showed that in the sales of land the trustees signed, except in one case, in which Douglas Wright and Nosworthy signed, and in another case the transfer was signed by Mrs. Wright as agent for others. Another was signed “Mrs. Wright, per D. G. Wright.” Witness (Quartermain) said that he had not been able to get any passbook concerning the imprest, account at Ashburton, out of which current expenses were paid. Witness gave instances of lending certain moneys from a sub-trust account. It was contended that on one mortgage the advance was far in excess of the two-thirds margin. It was impossible to distinguish from the bodies the separate profits of Windermere and Surrey Hills. In reply to counsel witness said that he did not suggest that the subtrust had not received its full proportion of moneys paid for the estate by Douglas Wright.
