NORTH EGMONT HOSTEL.
FINANCIAL POSITION. NEW SCHEME PROPOSED. In order to put matters on a better footing and to enlist the active cooperation of the people of New Plymouth and district, the guarantors held a meeting on Monday to consider the position, and after long discussion resolved on a, definite scheme for raising funds to liquidate the liabilities and to effect much-needed improvements at the hostel. Part of the scheme is to secure the support of local bodies in New Plymouth, and with that end in view deputations will wait on these bodies. A series of gala, days is suggested as a means of raising the requisite funds. The sum, it is estimated, will be about £2COO| and this is quite irrespective of the liability for which the guarantors have made themselves liable and to which they will still stand-
