A 10-year-old boy appeared in the Juvenile Court at Gisborne, charged with having unlawfully converted a motor cavr to his own use from a stand in town. The owner left the car on a nrivate stand outside a theatre, but it disanpeared. and hi ter was found abandoned. The boy had driven the car into the country and back. His parents stated he was getting beyond control, and was inclined to be headstrong. The magistrate said he did not think probation would he of much use. The hoy wanted a good thrashing. The father said he wished his Worship would order a flogging. The magistrate said he could not order a flogging, but if the father gave his son a sound thrashing that would be taken into consideration in imposing sentence. The father agreed, and the magistrate remanded the hoy so that the father could give the lad a good thrashing. One bankruptcv was’ recorded in Oamaru during the month of September,
