GOVERNMENT MORTGAGES.
(To the Editor.) &iiMay I ask for a small space in \ooi ..paper re a matter which is at piesent of widespread interest. I applied for a Government mortgage about ft year ago", and have believe the security offered quite satisfactory, i leceived an acknowledgment of my application, and after a. delay of some months I received a. further notification that my application would be submitted to the office in the order ot its leeeipt. X think you will agree with me that the powers that °be should be a little more definite. The property has been inspected- by the Government inspector, so they ' must know if the security is satisfactory, lime is getting short, and the question of “to he or not to be?” is troubling me. Do I get the Government mortgage or must I look elsewhere for the money? If they would say that the security wa§ satisfactory and loan would he obtainable as soon as funds are available, something could be arranged re extension temporarily. Thanking you, —I am, etc., ONE OF THE MANY.
