JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS.
* : COST NOT EXCESSIVE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 6. Mr. Caughley, Director of Education, addressed members of Parliament on the junior high schools system, explaining the necessity to overcome the present sudden change between primary and secondary schools, and to make the transition occur at a more suitable age. He said there had been some scepticism regarding the cost, but the KoAvhai school (Auckland) shoAved that the system cost not more than one shilling per head per annum than the present primary secondary systems. At the conclusion several members said they had been impressed by Mr. Caughley’s statement. One said that junior high schools Avould be a great benefit in rural districts, and the system Avould be better appreciated Avhen more fully understood. ’
