The team played a match against Ceylon. The weather was fine, but after heavy rain the wicket was heavy. Ceylon won the toss and sent in the visitors, the scoring being slow. Marylebone made 73 (Sutcliffe 14, Kilner 17, Whysall 10, Tyldesley 11, the only double figures). Cresswell, an old Somerset bowler, took eight wickets for 38 runs. At one stage his average was three wickets for five runs. Ceylon made 58. Waldoek, an old Cambridge blue, made 18, the only double figures. Gilligan took three wickets for four runs, Tyldesley four for 25, Freeman two for two. In the second knock Marylebone lost four wickets when time was called. Chapman made 70 by brilliant driving, including four sixes. SCORES IN AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, Oct, 5. For Sydney against Gordon, Rolleston made 103 runs and Kelleway took seven wickets for 83 runs. For North Sydney against Petersham, Brown made 102, Vincent 197. For Glebe against University. Trennery made 50 and Gray 111. For St. George against Waverley Mullarky made 75. For Manly against Randwick, Jack Gregory made 58 and captured two wickets for nine runs.
