A remarkable travelling record has been achieved by Edw'ard Frank Jones, aged 13 years, who recently arrived at Gisborne from Auckland, lie. was born in Gisborne, and is a son of Mr James, formerly proprietor of the Pakarea Hotel. When 18 months of age he went in company with his mother to England, returning to New Zealand in the following year. When five years of age he went across to Australia, visiting Hobart and Melbourne. By that time he had completed close upon 30,000 miles. He then lived on *the coast with his parents, but after his mother was killed in a coaching accident he again, at eight years of age, went to England. The following year he visited Capetown, and then went to Johannesburg, where lie lived with his relatives for the next four years. His latest trip, which brings him back to his starting point, commenced at Johannesburg. Thus at 13 years of age he has completed close upon 60,000 miles, and has visited more countries during his early boyhood than most people visit in their lifetime.
