OTAKEHO BRANCH. (From Pan* Oivn Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Farmers’ Unipn was held on Saturday, September 20, Mri E. T. Burke , presiding over a .gopcl attendance, of members. Thefthairmah stated that as the time for taking entries for the field competitions was drawing near it would be as well tb " consider if the conditions relating to the competitions would he the same as in previous years.— After a good deal of discussion it was decided that competitions for lucerne (3), swedes, mangolds, and carrots he held, and that the same conditions as in previous years apply. In regard to the cattle competitions a committee was set up to go into the schedule, etc., and report at the next branch meeting. The appointing of judges was held over in the meantime. An address on the care of milking machines was given by Mr. C. A. Burke, which caused a good deal of discussion-and from which a lot of useful hints were obtained. At the conclusion of the address a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Burke for his very efficient address. Mr. Burkq' suitably replied and said he hoped more addresses would be given by members, as a freer discussion invariably followed than when an address was given by an outside gentleman, although the latter was in all probability an expert in his particular subject. .

A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
