CANTERBURY MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH,’ Oct.’ 3. The high tension interest which has featured the potato market for most of the year is commencing to sag. The season is about over, and even if jumps in various values should occur they can only be short lived. During the week the Kawatiri arrived in Auckland with a consignment of about 1000 tons. The Wanaka left Lyttelton during the week with 2900 sacks, about evenly divided for Auckland and East Coast ports. However, in spite of the brief challenge of the season to come there has been a shade of improvement in the market, and sales for prompt and October del livery have been made during the v'eek at £6 10s f.o.b. sacks in. Values today are £6 5s on stations, and to growers £5 on trucks. Chaff is very firm, and farmers are being paid £7 12s 6d to £7 15s bn trucks, according to the station." Oats are very quiet, for the reason principally that there are verv few about. Cowgrass is still maintaining the bulk of interest in the seed market, but there is very little doing except for best coloured stuff suitable for export. Even the trade is inclined to be quieter.
