The absence of Director from the Epsom is due to an accident. While training on Rosehill course he threw the jockey (D. O’Connor, a Queenslander), whose foot became, caught in the stirrup and he was dragged some, distance, his jaw and collarbone being broken. O’Connor suffered other injuries, and was sent to hospital.' Director, in falling, received injuries, necessitating scratching. ' KUROW MEETING. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) OAMARU, Oct. 2. The annual meeting of the Kurow Jockey Club was held to-day. There was a large attendance. A heavy thunderstorm occurred after the fourth race and the going became very heavy.
