HIGH-HANDED SENATE.
TROUBLE IN CANADA. >?Y CARLE —PRESB ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT OTTAWA, Oct, 1. It is stated that the sterling of the Bank of Toronto has been absorbed by the standard. The Premier (Mr. Mackenzie King), said that Bills which were considered speaking at Fort William, Ontario 1 , to be for the public benefit were passed by the House of Commons only to be ruthlessly rejected by the Upper House. The situation was such that, in the interests of Democratic Government, “we are justified in savins that we will introduce legislation similar to that introduced in Britain some years ago to have the Constitution amended, so that a measure which has been twice supported by Hie Commons shall not be defeated by the Senate on the third occasion,, if brought before Parliament.”.
