FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
BRIGADE’S GOOD WORK. (BY /TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION ) AUCKLAND, Oct. 1. A fire broke out in the premises of B. Warman and Sons, cabinet-makers and upholsterers,. Hobson Street, at 8 o’clock last -night. The employees on the main floor saw smoke from a belting aperture in the floor, and almost immediately flames burst through the floor, leapt up the hric-k walls to the ceiling, and spread to the main workshop and upholstery department 'of the second floor. By 10 o’clock the brigade had the flames completely subdued.
The timber stocks in the basement, where the fire originated, wore badly burned, hut there appeared to he little damage to the plant and timber in the workshop. No estimate” of the damage is available, hut it will he comparatively small considering the extent' of the conflagration owing to the large quantity of inflammable material. The insurances fin the Hobson Street fire were £2500 on the building, divided between the South British. Phoenix and Northern Offices, and £2050 on the contents, divided between the North British and Phoenix Offices.,
