BY CABLE—PBXBB ASSOCIATION —COPY BIGHT (Received Oct. 1, 2.30 p.m.) GENEVA, Sept. 30. The difficulty raised bv the Japanese has been overcome, and in the Committee of the League jurists redrafted the disputed article, and' the Japanese withdrew their amendment. The Japanese objections have been overcome by reinforcing article 11 of the Covenant, namely, that the Council he empowered to intervene with a view r to the pacific- settlement of disputes The British. French and Italian jurists agreed on the wording of the article in the protocol, whereon Baron Adachi raised the difficulty, but the terms are iiot yet known. After the Japanese difficulty had been overcome the Disarmament Subcommittee met to complete the protocol; Prior thereto the Dominions’ clelegates were consulted, and it is understood they were satisfied with the u ordmg of -the proposed formula as eliminating any apprehensions they may have entertained, while satisfying the Japanese.
