BRITAIN TO INTERVENE
DECISIVE BATTLE EXPECTED

The Daily Mail’s Cairo correspondent says that the Hedjaz Government is evacuating Mecca and is going to Jeddah. El-Hussein remains at Mecca organising the defences, and has transferred the archives ancl treasures to a fin in the Red Sea. The evacuation follows the failure of a counter-attack under El Hussein on Emiraldi against the advancing AVahabis. It ■is expected that a decisive battle will be fought outside the walls. Britain formerly paid the Wahabis leader, the Sultan of Ibnessand, £60,000 yearly to keep peace. It is expected that Britain will be forced to intervene in order to enable the Empire’s loyal Moslems to pursue their pilgrimages uninterrupted.—Sydney Sun Cable. ...
